For example, with the cell operating at 600 degrees there is not much of a differential change between room temperature and plus/minus 10 degrees.
My Pb.... quite a hot computer runs 140F at the GPU. Id say your pushing no more than 150 at the CPU. No more than 170 on any laptop. 170F
=76 C. 90F = 32 C. 80F = 26C. T = 76-32= 44C. 76-26= 50C. 12% difference. Yes.... quite unnoticeable  . Thats if its a direct relationship... if its a secondary or tertiary relationship.... well then your looking at huge difference being created.
I dont know where you got 600  or negligible.... but...

its interesting that every intel mac so far, other than the mac mini, has needed a SMC update (if my memory serves me correctly).

If you're taking income into consideration, you also have to input cost of living. And I'm not sure what misconceptions you're referring to. Aren't we in agreement that California has a big budget problem and one of the highest tax rates?

That is hiding specs from people that would really like to know. That is the people who read the spec sheets and have good reason to do so. Little things add up be it the RAM in an iPhone/iPad, what the SD slot is capable of or any of a number of other devices that are poorly speced on the machine. Is it that difficult to just be honest with your users? Further where is the advantage of not coming clean?
And you managed to spin something positive into a negative... bravo!
By the way -- this wasn't too hidden. On page 28 of the user guide:
Using SD Cards
The SD card slot on the back of your Mac mini accepts most standard SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (SD High-Capacity), and SDXC (SD Extended Capacity) cards from digital cameras and other devices. You can also use MiniSD, MicroSD, and other smaller cards in a passive adapter. For more information about card sizes, speeds, and capacities, search for “SD” on the Apple Support website at www.apple.com/support.

I'm not a photographer, so I don't understand the significance of this update, but I was surprised to see all of these integration improvements. Is integrating with Flickr or your iPod or keynote that useful to a pro? I'd have though these were things more of interest to an average Mac user trying to show off his vacation/baby photos.
Are you pros interested in these things? Or maybe Apple is trying to get the serious amateur interested in Aperture?
There are tons of serious amateurs using or interested in Aperture. Or Lightroom. This would be an excellent feature for me. (if I could use the program, see above)
The worst "feature" of Aperture is the high computer requirements. It really is a resource hog for not much reason. LR is becoming very similar with far less system specs.

whenever i hear podcast i immediately think of apple, so why is apple shutting down free advertising?
Ever think that Apple might not want you to think of them when you download some of the crap podcasts that would be, and have already become available???
Apple would lose control of something they have been able to, for the most part, control up to now.
Like Janet Jackson, Apple likes control.

Or how about the lack of pictures? This had photo op written all over it, but we the taxpayer only get one picture? I think the number of pictures were limited due to Steve Jobs current condition.
could be possible i suppose....who knows.

There have been many intel gpu based machine that had 1600x900 res displays, like the C2D Vaio Z or some of the offerings from Lenovo. I don't see why apple can't give such a res with to the 11.6in MBA with a 350nit display and wide color gamut. Then just add and SD card slot, make the usb ports 3.0 and a maybe even add a thunderbolt port and I'd be the first in line to get one.
Core 2 Duo based VAIO Z's had an NVIDIA graphics chip for light gaming/HD videos/GPU intensive processes and the Intel graphics were only for basic processes like Word and internet surfing.
In the Air you would be stuck with the Intel gfx doing everything as there is no space for a dedicated chip.

Photos of lion server launchpad, podcast composer and one of server admin.
Podcast composer seems to be a vast improvement and offers many more options.
Server Admin seem really limited in my opinion but then again it docent work for me, for showing services so maybe theres more to come.

3DS game prices are the same as DS prices in the UK. 29. I imagine they'll drop to 25 in some shops after the launch period.
Surprised to see the console price plummet so much on Amazon too. 185! Cheaper than a PSP Go. I must say it's tempting but yeah, unless anything changes with the launch lineup I'll just wait till Zelda hits.
Ocarina of Time also has the Master Quest too, so, w00t!

Ah allright, rural areas are of course different. That being said, the rural areas in most european countries don't really have a good public transportation infrastructure either, but you're absolutely right, the sheer size of the US makes it worse. Even in rural areas in Europe, you don't have to travel far to get to a train station, airport etc.
But yes, there's the problem with us Europeans. For us the US consists only of very large cities, which indeed have public transport. :)

Yeah, I really don't understand the move to kill planned parenthood. Any way you look at it, killing it would lead to more unwanted pregnancies... which is probably a big contributor to abortions. :p
I think Republicans just have this weird vision for America where everyone is capable and responsible. We're not. So we need planned parenthood.

While the news is being reported by Digitimes, the source of the information is Commercial Times, a Chinese-language paper, which in turn cites Vincent Chen, an analyst at Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia.

I'd be interested to know this as well (have the same machine with the 512MB of VRAM option).I have the late 2009 MBP, 2.8 GHz 512mb graphics card. It runs fine, though I can't set it to ultra, I have to keep it on medium. When I forget to switch graphics cards, the 9400m runs on Low settings, but it still looks pretty good on low, just more cartoony.
