Your other thread about soft lud updates (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15916) is very similar to this one. It's one thing to not search for similar threads and quite another to open 2 similar threads on the same topic.
After about 28 threads about LUD updates during the July VB Fiasco, we know by now that the USCIS approves cases ad-hoc and not everything is FIFO. We also know that LUD updates mean ABSOLUTELY nothing. Suddenly we have seen older I-140s getting soft LUD updates. It means absolutely NOTHING. I know it is a bitter pill to swallow, coz ur heart is telling you that MAAAAYYBE there is something here, but unfortunately there is nothing there.

I just got my wife's h4 approval letter today but the I-94 does not have any validity period on it, its blank?? Moreover, We received two more i539 approval notices sames as my wifes without any validity period under my wife's name (Applicant)... beneficiary were for two kids age 9,11 totally different last names/Nationality :confused: Are the CSC processing people smoking something:eek:
I will call them tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone else also had this experience, do we have to travel outside the country to get I-94 stamped? my H1B approval has not arrived yet but the status online says approved. Our old I-94 on the passport have already expired, will that be a problem?
I just called the service center 800 number, the lady told me that if i feel it is CSC mistake i should make an infopass appointment else file I102. I would like to know if i have to travel back to my home country to get the I-94 stamped with the validity period on it or is it just a mistake on CSC part? ANY ONE in similar situation please help.

I brought toyota camry from a dealer in NY state last year feb/2010 on (toyota) finance, the dealer only asked me for my driver lience and ssn. he took copy of driver licence and ssn. nothing ask or talk about my immigration status etc, etc...
looking at me my friend (working with me) brought brand new toyota camry same month feb/2010 from PA dealer with 0% apr for 5 yrs. he also shown and given photo copy his driver licence and ssn.
myself and my friend both are on h1b visa.
this could be possibly happen because of private financing (toyota finance) not bank...

Yes it is positive --At-least senators are sticking to their timetable of CIR by March and April.
I guess that is the reason IV is asking for stories by Wednesday noon, This hearing is also on the same day.
Is this something positive, that can give us some hope? There hasn't been any good news for a long time.

Being current means very little. I've been there 3 times over the last few years. 4 years after filing my 485, and 2 RFEs later(each generated during a PD current period BTW) and 3 "currents", I am still waiting. I am on my 5th EAD.
So while optimism is good, with the USCIS don't get too hopeful. Incompetence abounds.

As far as possible, I would strongly suggest to stay away from small consulting companies. These typically pay you only when you are on project and that too after taking a huge cut from your billing rate. For e.g. it is very common for such a company to bill $80-100/hr i.e. $160-200K annually for an employee but pay the employee between $50-70K only.
Also I have heard horror stories of delayed payrolls, h1 not being given to employee fearing that the employee might change jobs and so forth.
However if you are strong of heart, and can negotiate well, you might be able to make more money. For e.g. if you already have EAD, you are not bound to them. Thus you can always say that you want 80% of billing rate or else no deal. :)

i think, not sure, if you are in US then for renewal in same visa category (or) to transfer from one visa category to another (like F to H visa, etc.), you can goto canada or mexico or india for visa revalidation.
But for new first time H1 visa, i think you should get it from india based on your home state jurisdication. you can check immigrationportal.com regd this there might be threads related to this...

Saturn has plants to produce cars, BUT NO TECHNOLOGY OF THEIR OWN. NO R&D.
Saturn sells rebranded-rebadged OPEL (GM - EUROPE, now sold to Magna) Vehicles.
While Jaguar and Land Rover are very strong brands with their own technologies and research & design capabilities. Besides Tata bought those brands when Rupee was historically high (below 40 per USD). So I don't think Tata made any mistakes.
I think it is Mahindra who is making mistake by not buying Hummer or Volvo or Saturn. I am very excited to see first Indian Vehicle to be sold in US i.e. Mahindra in 2009. No matter what, I will be the first to buy one.

Me too in same boat. At NSC, RD - 7/30, ND - 8/31, PD - 04/2007, EADs rcvd by 10/10 and waiting for APs. No LUDs after FP(9/28) on APs or 485s. LUD still shows 9/5 only. Any idea where is Nebraska now in processing APs???

I attended the event at UMass Lowell. Congressman Marty Meehan and new governor elect Deval Patrick were at the event. The topic of discussion was "global warming". Both governor and congressman took off after the event but I had a chance to talk to their staff.
One of congressman's staff went through the folder I provided with IV documents but he works for energy related issues and will pass to the staff dealing with immigration. He did provide me the senior staff member who looks into immigration issues. I'm going to email and try and meet him. Congressman Meehan is part of the judiciary committee related to immigration.
MA members> I'll send out a separate email to you guys and each one of us should contact and educate the congressman though his main focus seems to be the climate change issue.
Great effort. If all of us have the same kind of drive and effort, we will surely get the law passed soon.
Pls follow up with the staff and also try to get an appointment with this lawmaker. If you can go and take some other MA members along, it will be helpful.

Using AP does not necessarily mean that one is using the EAD. It is just a document that allows you to travel when needed.
Elaine you can correct if I am wrong ? I had a question though... say the H1-B is valid for more than 1 year but if AP is used the I-94 given would be of only 1 year, should we then extend the I-94 or is our H1-B valid till the duration it is approved for..
